Maybe.: Some meds can affect mood in some people, but also, if you are getting vancomycin injections, you're pretty sick.  Sickness is depressing all by itself! As well as exhausting, inconvenient, &amp; often painful.  None of which is conducive to happiness. Tell your doc. Rest, eat properly (plenty of fruits and veggies), get enough sleep, &amp; try to smile once a day at least.!  This all helps you get better

Probably not: IV vancomcin is probably more expensive if given in outpatient setting and requiring the supervision of doctors and nurses.  It does depend, however on the provisions of your insurance plan. Hope that helps

MRSA: If you are concerned about this.  I would have your father discuss it with his doctor to find out if you should bring your daughter.  Some people can become carriers of MRSA but to give you that information, I would need more information about your father's infection. We also may have an infectious disease expert who could give you a better answer.

Vancomycin: Single episodes of excessive serum levels of vancomycin are not likely to be deleterious unless you have severe pre-existing kidney impairment or are concomitantly taking drugs toxic to the kidneys.  Hope your illness clears up quickly. Best wishes.

Repeat testing: C diif is sometimes not eradicated with a first course of an antibiotic. It is therefore very important to repeat the testing to confirm eradication of the infection. If repeat testing confirms eradication of infection and you are still having gastrointestinal symptoms then it is very important to have a consult with a gastrointestinal specialist

Depends on: the urinary organs (lower or upper tract) involved and sensitivity of the bacteria that is causing the infection.  Vancomycin is an antibiotic that is not absorbed by the body through the GI tract, so it needs to be given IV for it to work on a uti.
