Cold liquids at 1st: Expect to use your pain medication - it helps. Ice cold liquids at 1st - slowly add ice cold Ensure. After about a week the cold may hurt the new tissue, so tepid clear broth, etc. No acidic, spicy or textured for awhile. Antisceptic gargle and saline gargle. be patient. Rest, Don't talk - not even silently in your head if possible. It should be a lot better after 2 weeks. Prepare lots of support.

does recauterization surgery after tonsillectomy reset healing process? will tongue, etc, hurt again? swelling again? can one still expect to feel better 14 days after initial surgery (as opposed to 14 from recauterization)? more details welcome?

Much less traumatic: A tonsillectomy involves cutting out the tonsils. A recauterization is in effect a burning of the newly healing scar, usually because part of the tonsil is regrowing. The recauterization is much less traumatic to your throat, and should heal much more quickly. You should expect to feel much better within 48 hours depending on how extensive the cauterization is.

Surgery: Sounds like you listed many qualifiers, recurrent strep tonsillitis is another common reason.  If you have seen one surgeon and are uncomfortable with the recommendation, get a second opinion.

Not Extreme Pain: 19 y/o Female says I had tonsillectomy 9 days ago. There is swelling, redness &amp; extreme pain in my throat and ears. Is this normal 9 days post-op? Some inflammatory response of swelling, redness and pain could still be expected at this time but Extreme Pain should not be; so one should go back to the surgeon for assessment to be sure infection or something similar is not interfering  with recovery

Tonsillectomy: Yes. It can take a week or two for the tonsillar wound to heal. The white appearance is part of the healing process.

: Pain post surgically will generally subside in two weeks or so, but the surgery described will not remove all the causes of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).  Obtain a sleep study after the operative pain has stopped.  If abnormal ,  CPAP may be required.

Yes: The uvula can be irritated from the breathing tube(endotracheal tube) which goes down your throat. It is sloughing or shedding mucosa that was injured and new normal tissue will return. The white stuff in the tonsil area is usually eschar(scab) that contains a fibrinous (protein-like) substance that is protecting the site as it heals.
