Not Extreme Pain: 19 y/o Female says I had tonsillectomy 9 days ago. There is swelling, redness & extreme pain in my throat and ears. Is this normal 9 days post-op? Some inflammatory response of swelling, redness and pain could still be expected at this time but Extreme Pain should not be; so one should go back to the surgeon for assessment to be sure infection or something similar is not interfering with recovery

your age .......s responsible for delay in return to normalcy. Hope you have changed your oral hyzine habits.........else thyat will contribute to infection and delayed healing.

Perhaps: but it is only prudent to contact the surgeon to find out if there is anything else happening. Pain in the ears is not expected from this procedure.
