UTI's in kids: Children do not get urinary tract infections for most of the same reasons that adults do.  First and foremost, anatomical issues such as vesicoureteral reflux, posterior urethral valves and others issues must be investigated.  Otherwise, UTI's in children are often due to poor hygiene/wiping, masturbation, infrequent diaper or pull up changes, or chronic urethral irritation.

See urologist.: You should probably see a urologist to sort out whether or not you have an anatomic abnormality or continued reflux issues which are predisposing you to infection.  Your primary care doc may need to do some evaluation prior to referral.

BLUNTED KIDNEY: It is likely they are discribing a renal scar from infection and not intercourse. This will not likely resolve but a typical healthy person has lots of reserve function to make up for this loss. It typically has nothing to do with the ability get pregnant in the future.

Pediatric UTI: This sounds like a job for a pediatric urologist.  There are many possibilities, and you have not provided sufficient info for a diagnosis to be made. A 4 yr old needs to be fully evaluated, not only for possible causes, including anatomic defects, but also for the possibility of abuse. See a good pediatrician and get a recommendation.

Depends : The antibiotic depends on the bacteria isolated in the urine . There is not "one" antibiotic  that is used for a uti.  There are numerous choices  depending on the bacteria causing it.

Get Urine Culture: How many of these UTI's were confirmed by a urine culture? This is the only way to prove that your symptoms are a true infection and identify the cause of the infection. This will then make sure you get the right antibiotic for treatment. It is highly unlikely this is linked to a tubal procedure, but we still must find the true cause.  If all 3 UTI's were culture proven, see a urologist for eval.

Unusual: For someone who gets frequent uti's you should have had by now tests to determine if you have any anatomical abnormalities in your urinary tract system- at the very least a kidney ultrasound and vcug.  A urologist should become involved. Uti's can only be diagnosed by urine culture in a sterile container. U/a insufficient to diagnose uti.  If >100, 000 bacteria aren't identified, unlikely uti.
