UTI: Normally, we get a urine sample and examine it , send it for culture and sensitivity. We wil grow the bacteria to find out what antibiotic we need to give. It is usually gram negative organism. If we can not wait for the culture, we start with Ampicillin 250mg.3x/day or septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) suspension 2tsp. 2x/day for 10 days.
