Uterine fibroid.: Patients with uterine fibroid that is not symptomatic or affect conception, do not need surgical or medical management. in your case, if you do not have symptoms such as pelvic pressure, pain, and do have ability to conceive, then conservative management is the key. One can carry pregnancy to term with asymptomatic fibroid in most cases. Myomectomy can be done with preservation of fertility.

Never heard that: U can get intraligamentous fibroids that can grow and cause pain, if u are having pain u should be getting evaluated for the fibroids and they may need to be removed or shrunk or u may need a hysterectomy.

i've been having low back/right pelvic pain (2 in. above mons pubis/possibly where ovary is?) for a month now. i was told it could be a hip ligament issue, but i'm worried about it being an ovarian issue. how can i tell the difference between the two?

Examinations: 22yo female w. "low back/right pelvic pain" seeks differentiation as to pelvic ligament vs. ovary pain generation. Pelvic examination, by Gynecologist, w. ovary palpation arousal of ipsilateral pain suggests ovary. Low back exam arousing ipsilateral positive Fortin, Gillette &amp; Forward Flexion Test Signs, elicited by an Osteopath, are pathognomonic for pelvic ligament disorder/pain generation.

Uterine better: Treatment results are generally better for uterine cancer than for ovarian cancer.

2 ovarian cysts showing endometriomas. both in a retro uterine location. right one measuring 4 x 3.6cm and the left 6x4.5cm. how bad is my condition?

Accepted Answer

Significant: Ultrasounds are fairly accurate in the diagnosis of endometriomas. Any endometrioma over 3 cm should be removed. If fertility is not important, have uterus and both ovaries removed. If fertility important, can have cysts removed but with endometriosis and age 41, fertility may be impaired already.

will an hsg show any ovarian or uterine cancer?

Accepted Answer

Possible: A hystosalpingogram is an x-ray taken while radioactive dye is pushed through the uterus.  It is definitely not a screening exam for either uterine or ovarian cancer.  However, if your radiologist or physician were to see an abnormality on the exam, they would report/investigate the lesion.  If you're worried about these cancers, talk to your doctor about your risk factors.

Typical symptoms: Cervical cancer can be detected early by routine Pap smears.  The most common symptom of uterine cancer is vaginal bleeding after menopause.  Ovarian cancer usually causes a heavy "bloated" feeling in the pelvis.  If you have symptoms to suggest any of these cancers, you should consult your physician promptly.  Early diagnosis and treatment improves outcomes.

Accepted Answer

Sometimes: Most ovarian cysts result from how an egg develops.  Sometimes an egg doesn't release normally and the hormones can become mixed up.  This is most common in adolescents and in women approaching menopause.   You should talk to your gyn provider about what you are experiencing and how to treat it.

what might cause a thickened uterine lining in a woman with premature ovarian failure vs. one in natural menopause?

Estrogen excess: Endometrial thickening is usually due to excess estrogen effect on the uterine lining or infrequent ovulation. A polyp,  submucus fibroid or (less commonly) an endometrial cancer can cause an abnormally thickened endometrial lining.

would disordered proliferative endometrium with a strong family h/o ovarian and uterine ca, lynch synd. warrant a hysterectomy ?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not: Disordered proliferative endometrium solely describes endometrium that is in different phases of development of secretory glands at the same time.  And it is definitely not a pre-cancerous diagnosis based on your biopsy.  The strong family history, however, could be. Consider speaking with your gynecologist about prophylactic hysterectomy in your specific setting/family history.  Good luck.
