Accepted Answer

NO: I tell all my patients "never pass up the opportunity and void frequently" you are headed for significant bladder problems if you don't empty more frequently. Bladder infections and urinary retention are in your future. Voiding at least 6 times per day is reasonable but i recommend every 2 hrs whether you have to go or not.

my urine pvr is usually 30-40ml. my urogyn says under 100ml is acceptable, so i'm ok. but why do some women retain some urine? i wish i had 0ml pvr.

There are several: causes of post-void residual urine in women. There can causes of increased post-void urinary retention in women: obstruction typically caused by organ (uterus/bladder/rectum) prolapse (weakening of support from stretching/injury often related to childbirth), pelvic mass (fibroids, other growths/tumors); hormonal (estrogen deficiency);medication; nerve function. Some are treatable...work with Doc!

how can i figure out my bladder capacity without going to a urogyn?

Measure.: Though true bladder capacity is obtained during cystocopic or urodynamic evaluation, you can get a rough measure of your bladder capacity by holding your urine until you feel urinary urgency, then voiding into a container and measuring the amount. The average bladder volume is between 400-600ml or 13-20 fl. Oz. If you have any urinary complaints, i so recommend evaluation by a specialist.

Here are some ...: Horseback riding will not affect what does already exist; so  enjoy horseback riding. But, what you saw in the introitus as described could have no clinical significance. To make the upcoming urogyn visit more sense, collect the info on the onset, degree, duration, Hx of pregnancy &amp; childbirth if any, current voiding, etc. over time, and bring those to her/him for analysis + physical exam + tests?

have cystorectocele. urogyn recommends surgery; recovery was @12 weeks. planning trip to israel 7/2/15.if repair done 4/6/15,is it too early to travel?

See below: Are u drinking too much water. Diabetes can cause hi urine output. Cystocele bladder wall weakness can cause this. If have several children can have some weakness bladder urethra.

endo excised in jan. by my urogyn who i also see for ic. do i still need to have an annual this year? should i see my regular gyn or my urogyn for it?

Yes: I would get with your regular GYN doctor and do a routine annual regardless of what you had done with the Uro-gynecologist.

See below: Do have you neurogenic bladder or have problems with severe vaginal dryness or incontinence/retention issues?  I can see where an ANA would be drawn, but usually there are other symptoms that are present at the same time.

OB/GYN consult: Please know your full medical history, and your last menstrual period. If you have fever/chills, frequency/painful urination, worsening or severe abdominal/pelvic pain then go to the ER to be evaluated. It is important to rule out ectopic pregnancy and pregnancy in general #1. With regard to your symptoms  urinalysis, pelvic exam/ultrasound hysteroscopy can help diagnose &amp;treat

my gyn referred me to a urogyn for pelvic pain that's been going on for about 2 months. i see the urogyn in 2 weeks, but this pain has been getting worse. not sure if i should just wait until the appt, or if not idk who to call. what should i do?

If you believe that: your symptoms have worssened considerably - consider either calling your own gynecologist or call the urogynecologist's office and explain  worsened symptoms to staff. You can request an expedited appointment or to be put on a cancellation list.
