Variable: Would start with an internist to evaluate lungs and internal structures. If nothing there move to an orthopaedic dr. Can be a spine or a shoulder problem. May even be postural from the computer. Can be referred from cervical spine. Too many possibilities.

Your issue could be very separate but you may be more sensitive at that time to the pain. Best!

Chicken &amp; Egg: Bodily pain causes stress &amp; stress can cause bodily pain.  Make sure you have a diagnosis from you doc.  Consider a mind body approach like biofeedback, clinical hypnosis, meditation, etc.  A clinical psychologist can help w/this.  Peace and good health.

Yes: It appears that you have a nerve impingement somewhere between a nerve root or the nerve it self. A deep breath or certain movements can impinge these structures causing increased discomfort. Spurs or disk problems may be the culprit and a MRI of the midspine may reveal the cause.

Nerve: With that distribution of pain I suspect that the cause is pressure on a nerve root by a bulging disc or spur at the vertebra in the upper back or lower neck. A neurologist or neurosurgeon would be best to evaluate and advise you. An MRI will most likely be recommended.

Probably not.: Although lung cancer can occur in someone in their early 30's, it is pretty unusual.  A chest ct is a good test at evaluating the lungs for lung cancer.  If it is normal, then it is not lung cancer.

But, as i'm sure you already know, you should stop smoking.  If you keep smoking, there's a good chance of developing cancer in the future as well as heart and blood vessel disease.

See your doctor: Costochondritis is an inflammation of a rib or the cartilage connecting a rib. It is a common cause of chest pain.
Pain that follows the ribs can be related to shingles, or intercostal neuritis. Treatment is different so you need to be evaluated.

Lots of things: There are a lot of things, some of them quite serious, that could be causing those types of symptoms. If the pain is continuous you should see your doctor or be seen in an er right away.

Neck, back, shoulder: It would be difficult to say without an exam. A cervical strain tends to dissipate over time and resolve within a few weeks. It usually does not last for months.
