A member asked:

If you have a nerve in the neck causing upper back, and shoulder pain and when u breathe and ur muscles contract, could that cause pain in the back?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: It appears that you have a nerve impingement somewhere between a nerve root or the nerve it self. A deep breath or certain movements can impinge these structures causing increased discomfort. Spurs or disk problems may be the culprit and a MRI of the midspine may reveal the cause.
