Cord compression: With spinal stenosis resulting in cord compression, these neurological symptoms are quite common. You need to learn the right PT exercises to alleviate your symptoms as well heat and positioning of arms for maximum comfort. Nerve conduction study by your neurologist can rule out myelopathy if medically suspected. Good luck!

how do i know whether my upper arm is coming from compression of l2-l5 lumbar?

No arm symptoms.: L2-5 lumbar disc herniations or stenosis would not cause upper arm symptoms.  They would cause leg symptoms.

burning right wrist pain under thumb, and upper arm pain that shoots into shoulder for 2 months - dr said nerve related. now numbness & weak left pinky. could right arm nerve compression shoot into my left hand? neuro appt isnt until august. worried?

: Your condition could originate from the cervical spines although you do not have neck or upper back pain. Your doctor should initiate some work up for neuropathy in the meantime pending initial neuro visit. MRI of the cervicothoracic spines (mainly the lower C spines C5-7, and upper thoracic spines T1-T3) should be included in the preliminary work-up.

how does a compression sleeve help swelling caused by broken arm?

Forces fluid out: Compression sleeves help force fluid out of the extremity. Often times, the lymphatic system which drains fluid out of the extremity, does not work well after a fracture.  A compression sleeve might help in the short term.

had dvt in arm 1.5 yrs ago, lifting weights for 6 months now, 2 months without compression sleeve. after every workout same arm turns slightly red then back to normal shortly. did d dimer was negative at 0.1, is this normal post clot? on xarelto 20mg?

: The status of the veins, after having sustained a blood clot, should be monitored by Duplex doppler testing for evidence of ongoing obstruction.

Prob not: As an orthopedic surgeon who treats many patients w/ shoulder instability i would say there is no proven benefit to wearing compression shirts for instability . In season football players w/ unstable shoulders may be helped by wearing 'harnesses' which limit abduction( movement away from body) and external rotation.Best of luck!

what is this pain under my arm just under the armpit area it feels like stabbing pain then as if being poked real hard will cold compressions help?

The pain: "sounds" like an irritated NERVE in your lower NECK (that is RADIATED PAIN from a disc bulge at C6-C7 cervical vetebral level! See your PCP ( who should also examine under your arm to eliminate a tender lymph node(s)

i have nerve damaged arm from an accident 16 years ago (injury to back near shoulder). 8 weeks ago someone accidently caused a nerve compression injury on that arm. will it likely heal and, if so, what symptoms indicate healing?

: The neurological system within the body has a significant amount of plasticity (meaning it can get most functioning back after a minor accident). It is difficult to predict your healing pattern without a more thorough history of your previous injury, your current symptoms and any neurological studies in your past.

2 day after digital rectal exam for piles, my body became kind of sensitive. both hands are becoming numb frequently, with very little pressure,mainly ring n little finger side of arm. does nerve compression in one area affect whole body?

No: Not likely to be directly related to rectal exam. Your physician should be aware of your new symptoms. Your current symptoms suggest either cervical radiculopathy or carpal tunnel/ ulnar neuropathy among others.

i have three compression fractures in my back and now havin neck and shoulder pain running down my arm what causes this? none

While : While cervical (neck bone) compression fractures are rare in the absence of trauma, its quite possible you have a degenerative condition causing your symptoms.  Disc bulging, herniations, and arthritis are just a few conditions that are commonly a source of nerve root irritation in the neck that can cause neck/shoulder pain that travels down the arm.  Most of the time it can be treated successfully with nsaid's, pt, activity modification, etc.  Less commonly it requires some more invasive intervention (injections or surgery).  A visit to your pcp (or orthopedist if you have one) would be in your best interest.
