Talk to someone.: Try to find out the cause of your sadness.  Are you grieving? Blue? Stressed?  Talk to someone to get some perspective.  If not family or friends, try a physician that you trust.

Many possible answer: Depending on the age of the baby, it could be colic, hunger, thirst, constipation, discomfort from too many clothes, irritation from the diaper, feelings of fear, loneliness etc.
Illness is usually signaled by fever plus other signs, so if none of those, try holding the baby, talking to it, check for sweating from too warm clothes & correct; offer water, foods etc depending on age.  Be attentive.

Constant sniffing: Hello. The sniffing action is a maneuver to displace the nasal mucus to the back of the nose instead of it dripping out the front. Try an antihistamine such as claritin, Allegra or zyrtec.

1st Feel better, ok?: It may take some time to figure out reasons, and that might help, but it is not necessarily the first order of business. You need to find some support and relief. Talk to a therapist, a doctor, a counselor or clergy.  After you are less upset, it will be easier to decide if there is a need for meds. You don't need to feel so bad. Good luck.

Yes: Rubbing alcohol is a poison that should not be inhaled or consumed.  It is to be used on the skin to clean a wound.  It can cause severe metabolic problems and even death if ingested.  Ethyl or drinking alcohol should also not be inhaled.  The intoxication that occurs from its inhalation can also be fatal.
