See below: Ultrasound may evaluate the ovaries to better advantage when compared to ct. Occasional a small mass in the ovary may not be visible on ct. Also a ct study without contrast (dye) enhancement may not evaluate the ovaries well.

one of my ovaries is enlarged so i had an ultrasound yesterday. today they called me and said i need to come in tomorrow for bloodwork and then ct scan this friday. i'm very nervous -what should i ask?

See answer: Anxiety, fear, nervousness all normal emotions at this time. Important to keep in perspective that most cases of an enlarged ovary are not serious and your physician is doing these additional tests to get as much information as possible regarding the cause. The additional blood work and more detailed pictures provided by ct will help provide your md with this information. Remain relaxed + positive.

i am a 33 yr. old who is post hysterectomy. in april i had a normal ultrasound. i was having gastro issues and i ended up having a ct done. on the ct they found a 2 cm. hypodense mass on my left ovary as well as free fluid. should i be concerned?

: A ruptured ovarian cyst or follicle leaks fluid. A normal ultrasound in April is reassuring but I'd rather have your gynecologist advise you about whether further testing or follow-up is advisable.

ca125 of 95, clear ultrasound scan of ovaries. 6 months later ca125 of 86, clear ct scan of ovaries. im 26 years old. gynae wants to retest levels in 3 months. is it cancer ?? please answer?

: A "ca125 test" may be elevated , but there may be other causes for this besides ovarian cancer.  Obtain a referral to a GYN oncologist for guidance, who may order a laparoscopic diagnostic exam to obtain biopsies of ovarian tissue.

history of rectal carcinoid and total hysterectomy. 2015/2018/2020 ct scans all show cyst on left ovary. is that strange as shouldnt they go away. ca-125 normal. vag ultrasound shows cyst. gyn says wait. carcinoid doctor wants to do bso. conflicted?

Carcinoid tumor ?'s: A hysterectomy is not generally curative of true carcinoid tumor/symptoms, and a "total hysterectomy" is defined as just removal of the uterus, leaving the ovaries alone.  A CT showing an ovarian cyst does not require immediate surgery unless the cyst is complex. Get a second opinion, b/c "BSO" will not correct carcinoid, which is usually multicentric and outside of the ovaries.

Do not have: the ultrasound report. The CT report is concerning and suggest there is a complex structure in the right area of the ovary and note that this need further followup.  Will probably need laparoscopy as soon as this can be done.  This is suggestive of  number of things. To go into detail is inappropriate and needs to be discussed with your doc. Best wishes.

Ruptured cyst: Ruptured ovarian cyst is a common cause of pelvic pain associated with fluid collection around the affected ovary. This what may be going on. Discuss your ultrasound results with your doc. If the pain is not getting worse, observation, non-steroidal antiinflammatories such as naproxen, Ibuprofen and extra rest may help.

Vibrations: Great that all your tests are negative. The right ovary lays on top of the ureter and the bowel lays over and around the ovary. You could be feeling the urine flow to you bladder or the intestines moving stool and fluid.

Pelvic pain: Ct scan shows more details of the pelvic contents. Cancer ovary is ruled out if normal  ultrasound since it presents with cysts or masses which are easily diagnosed by the ultrasound. So stool analysis and blood tests will provide us with the clues. So better stop worrying about cancer with a negative provisional result.
