You need to ask: It would be helpful if there was a web site information but there isn/t. Hip replacement can be done from the front or back, but there is no list of who does it which way.  The best thing you can do is get a list of of who has the best reputation for joint replacement and then call each one and see who does it from the front or back.

: Likely question to ask is whether the thigh problem is due to disuse atrophy or nerve problem associated with prior surgery.  An EMG study can help sort this out, and could be easily done prior to further surgery.

Not normal: Groin pain is a very common symptom of hip osteoarthritis and I wonder if you experienced it before hip replacement. I tend to think that your current discomfort is somehow related to the hip joint or surrounding structures. I don't see how diflucan, an antifungal medication, helped pain. See your orthopedic surgeon for evaluation and advice.

Months: Wonderful is hard to predict for any operation. The procedure is done to reduce the groin pain associated with arthritis or avn or a congenital deformity of the hip when you walk or rotate.  Some people have almost all their pain go away from this. Many are doing really well by 8-12 weeks. By 6 months much better. By a year-18 months it its fully matured and maximized for most.

Gait training: The goal is to increase strength in the affected leg and improve range of motion.  Therapy usually lasts 4-6 weeks and there are usually no restrictions.

Excellent: When arthritis or other problem leads to deterioration of the hip, pain is interfering with activities of daily living, and conservative care isn't working, then a hip replacement is a good surgical option. It can be done from the front or back and 95% do well. Risks include infection, instability, limb length discrepancy, nerve damage, and blood clots, but these are infrequent (&lt;5%). Most do well.

Many options: There are many choices when it comes to the materials used for hip replacement surgery.  The most thorough study of implants materials to date comes from the Australian Joint Replacement Registry- an extremely large collection of data from thousands of surgeries.  The best material at this time seems to be Oxidized Zirconium (known as Oxinium) with highly cross-linked polyethylene.

Yes: Not unusual to have aches and pain for 6-12 weeks in general. Most joint replacements improve over 12-18 months when they usually achieve  their full recovered state.  You still need to make your follow up appointments so your surgeon can assess you. Any worsening pains, fever , chills you need to call your surgeon with right away. But groin pain after activity is your body saying take it easy.

Great -exercise very: Exercise is very important. Instruction from physician for any restrictions are  important. Flexibility suggests you may have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (a joint hypermobility syndrome. Ask your physicians if you have this.
