Both bad: Both Tylenol and vodka are bad for a person with cirrhosis. Certainly no doctor would prescribe either of these to a person with cirrhosis.

Accepted Answer

Once in hospice: the main focus in to keep the person pain free and  comfortable. Usually  that goal trumps all else. 
For instance, narcotics might be given to an addict to control their pain.

i have primary biliary cirrhosis and i overdosed on acetaminophen. the inflammation doesn't seem to go down for six months. is it possible to recover?

Unlikely: Biliary cirrhosis is a progressive disease to worse , best option is liver transplantation , long term progress is excellent with it .Consult at a transplantation  or speak to your doctor.

Family practice : Tylenol (acetaminophen) is worse on your liver. Advil worse on your kidney. I would recommend not taking either. Check with your primary dr.

Ibuprofen: Tylenol (acetaminophen) is broken down in the liver, which in your case isn't recommended. Advil is ibuprofen, which is broken down in the kidney. It is an anti-inflammatory and would help with your shoulder.

Cirrhosis: Always remember moderation instead of excess.  Heavy dose tylenol (acetaminophen)  greater then 3000-4000 mg per day.  Alcohol can enhance with excess. Hopefully your liver function tests will remain normal

Acetaminophen: Acetaminophen, sold as Tylenol, (acetaminophen) and found in many other medications, is a wonderful medication for pain relief and to lower fevers. However, when taken in excess, it is also very harmful to the liver. One's lifestyle, eg chronic and/or excess alcohol consumption, can lower the threshold (raise risk) for liver damage. If someone has been diagnosed, focus on cure, rather than speculate on cause.

Usually: For an adult without liver disease, the dose range is 1 or 2 tablets. If having pain beyond prescribed medication's relief abilities on a recurring fashion, talk to your prescriber about medication strength adjustment.

: Acetaminophen (Tylenol) overdose can cause serious liver problems. Whether that's a risk depends on the amount of drug he took and his weight. Call the child's pediatrician ASAP; or look online for a local poison control center for advice. If unable to get helpful information from one or the other within an hour, take him to urgent care. Bring the empty bottle. Good luck.
