Increased risk: Hi. Your LDL and non-HDL (LDL + VLDL) are high; they are the atherogenic lipoproteins. Your HDL is low; that's the anti-atherogenic lipoprotein. Therefore, all those lipoprotein abnormalities increase your risk of atherosclerosis. Do you have a family history of premature heart attack? Do you have type 2 diabetes? Talk with your doc. It's better to prevent a heart attack than to treat one.

It would: Depend on other risk factors.  If you had diabetes, say, you would want the LDL under a 100.  Smokers, htn, family hx the LDL under 100 is the goal.  Otherwise you want the LDL under 130. You may achieve this by diet and excercise but a low dose statin may help.  You may get better advise, though.  I am ob/gyn and have to look it up when i prescribe.  Good luck.

Not too bad.: Your risk of heart disease is increased a little over the average, but your 10 year risk of heart disease is actually fairly low. I guess 2%.  Don't know your precise number because I do not know your blood pressure...Look at the Framingham Risk Score on line. Should put your mind at ease.  Check your numbers with your doc so they can look at the bigger picture - Family history, other risks, etc.

+ family history: Hi. You have a family history of premature coronary disease, a substantial risk factor. You CT angio is great, as are your Lp(a) and triglycerides. Your HDL is low, and without high triglycerides, not a good target for treatment. Your LDL is above goal, and EASILY treatable (the only treatable target). Do you know what your dad's lipids are/were? I trust you don't smoke.

Risk Can Be Elevated: Triglycerides (tg) are blood fats that are elevated for many reasons. Often, high tg occurs with high blood pressure, high blood sugar, low "good" cholesterol (hdl-c), and increased waist size. Most people with high tg also have high LDL particle number with mildly abnormal LDL cholesterol. In these settings risk of heart disease is high. Also, tg > 500  can cause pancreatitis. See your doctor.
