When this does not work, there can be rare neurologic or muscular cases.  Again, these are rare.   Hard work is usually the answer.  Start walking, and light strengthening.  You will see results if you put in the time !  see your doc for more guidance!

Stretch: Please see my previous answer on runners' knee. Briefly, stretch your hamstrings and it band before and after u run. Avoid running hills. Use ice massage to tender areas for 20-30 min after u run. Try otc nsaids . If it continues to hurt despite above rest and crosstrain! good luck!

: Female athletes are prone to overuse knee injury due to femoral anteversion   Wider hips than males. Pronation or flattening of the arch is usually present. An arch support might help. Seeing a podiatrist and having a custom orthotic will help your alignment  especially if wanting to be a serious runner. With proper shoes and orthotics you can run for years

TRICK/KNOCKED KNEES: Knocked knee is when knees are abnormaly close together and space between ankles is increased.The trick knee is a term used when knee joint is susceptible to be in locking position most of the time due to longitudinal splitting of medial meniscus following trauma.

Blood in the knee joint tends to cause inflammation and pain.
