Fatty tumor: A liposarcoma is very similar to its non-cancerous counterpart called a lipoma. Both are soft, fatty tumors that generally present themselves as a "lump". A liposarcoma will generally have more rapid growth and be larger (>5 cm) than a lipoma, however. Liposarcoma may cause symptoms of pain and swelling when it grows of significant size.
