i have 3 tiny dots in a triangle shape on my hand about the size of a pen head. each one has a black dot on the top. they hurt. should i be worried?

Tricky: dermatologic conditions are difficult to evaluat wtihout seeing them. One possibility is an infection. If it is spreading that is a serious condition needing treatment. There are many other possibilities such as age spot, tumor, scabs, etc.

Probably not: The so-called dangerous area of face is an imaginary triangle, with its pointed end at the top of nose and the bottom line running across the middle of mouth, leaving the side of your face mostly out of it. Regardless, you should get checked out for proper care of the wound, which should be properly cleaned and treated with antibiotics as indicated

Follow up: I would recommend you follow up to be seen directly. Although there are multiple possibilities, one of the more likely  findings you are describing is lymphadenopathy, in which the lymph nodes are abnormally seollen often related to an infectious or inflammatory process.  You should be seen and fully evaluated for this and other potential causes.

Basically no: The concern is a skin infection here traveling to the cavernous sinus and causing thrombosis. I heard this as a first-year medical student and got all worried about my acne doing this, and got set straight by an annoyed house officer. Acne won't go to the deep structures, and if you have a cellulitis on your face, you're going to get treated anyway.

: The label applies to an area where blood flow is shared with inside the skull. Infection that 'might' enter the blood from that location could lead to meningitis or other brain infection. Failure to recognize and initiate treatment if this happened could lead to death. The cascade of events is not automatic but is possible.
