Yes.: That's part of the reason otc cold meds are not recommended for small children.

can you take zicam and triaminic thin strips together? i have a cold and i've been taking zicam regularly, i would like to take a triaminic thin strip. will this cause any reaction or any side effects?

According : According to drugs.Com, there are no interactions listed for these two medications.  However, i would not recommend the use of Zicam nasal gel for a cold.  It has been implicated in causing the loss of the sense of smell and the fda pulled it from store shelves in 2009.

No: Over the counter cold medications have no proven benefit in well controlled studies, and can cause serious problems, especially in children.  In fact, it is now finally recognized generally that taking these meds in kids under 2 is a very bad idea (although deaths in infants from them have been reported for 30 years). Not recommended: Children's cold medication not recommended for the under 6 yo crowd.  Instead give honey 1 tsp every 4 -6 hours for cough.

Yes: Yes he/she can. There is no conflict between those two medicines.

No they won't: just be cautious when using multiple drugs, delsym has dextromethorphan, a good cough suppressant, use it cautiously in children

2.5 hours ago we gave our 3.7 yrs old triaminic night time cold and cough (2.5 ml). now he has 100.2 f fever and gave him ibuprofen (5ml). is it safe?

Yes: Always make sure that the ingredients in one drug don't overlap with the other, so you avoid overdosing (classically, it was very easy to overdose on tylenol due to the amount of acetaminophen-containing medications).  There does not appear to be overlap between these two.  Hope he feels better!

i'm 4 weeks pregnant & i had a really bad cold & sore throat, i took children's alcohol/aspirin/ & ibuprofen free triaminic syrup, will my baby be ok?

Accepted Answer

Yes: There is no evidence of any problems with the ingredients in triaminic, which is listed as a class b drug.  Class a drugs are those few where major amounts of research have showed no harm, but class b drugs are considered to be very safe. However, it is a good idea in the future to discuss use of otc drugs in advance with your OB provider.  Am glad you are so concerned, good luck with pregnancy.
