Not enough info!: There is not enough information to be able to answer your question.  Does the pain hurt only with movement?  Have you changed your exercise routine?  Do over the counter pain relievers, in normal doses, help?  If your pain persists, see a doc this week.  If you have fever, numbness, tingling, weakness, or loss of control of bowel or bladder function, or black or bloody stools, go to an ER.

Prostatitis: 27 M of unknown sexual practices notes has PUS in prostate, scrotal pain. 10 K get loss in 3 months. Flank pAin asks causes? ANS: my first assessment is chronic Prostatitis and pyelonephritis and or HIV. But many other possibilities. Get to Dr and get tested. Don't delay!

is surgery the usual route for a small upj obstruction if it only causes occasional mild to moderate flank pain or are there any nonsurgical treatments? my urologist said surgery if it was a stone, but no stone showed up in my ureter on ct scan?

in the past mth, unsuccessful upper uti treatments of cipro, keflex, cip. urine was still mildly +ve so ive started co-amoxiclav-on day 3 but still have flank pain & nausea. us 3 days ago shows loss of cmd but kidney size normal. wht can i do next?

Several poss. causes: Common causes of flank pain such as organ problems or disc injuries can be found by your average doc. A good osteopathic exam, however, in addition to the standard tests, might define more obscure causes. Ex: in my practice i've seen flank/back pain of 'unknown cause' lasting 10-20 years when what they have is a quadratus lumborum muscle spasm which is easily treated, if you know to look for it.

Get evaluated. : A reddish tinge to the urine could signify blood, or hematuria. Flank pain and a temperature point to a possible urinary tract infection. See your physician for a detailed history, physical exam, and some urine testing with a dipstick, urinalysis, and culture. If the likelihood of a UTI is high, empiric treatment may be started.
