Maintaining normal blood sugar levels is important as hyperglycaemia has been correlated with impaired wound healing (senior, 2000). In order to optimise  wound-healing potential, patients should be encouraged to achieve target levels for glycated haemoglobin and sugar level.

Mini open RCR: The rehab is usually stepwise with the initial therapy involving passive motion of the arm for about 6 weeks while the cuff heals, then active motion for another 4-6 weeks, then a strength program.

Depends: If you do not have short term disability insurance, check if you qualify for coverage from your state, which is unlikely but possible.

Try to avoid: This is not an uncommon problem for patients( 'putting off' elective surgery so they can care for spouse or other family member)so i understand your situation.If nsaids and or tylenol (acetaminophen) is not easing the discomfort enough( can't sleep , etc.) than a ' milder' pain med like tramodol may be effective. Try to avoid taking stronger pain medication prior to your surgery. Best of luck!

Usually not: If it is a full thickness tear then it will not heal on its own.

Maybe: Not all cuff tears absolutely require surgery; however if completely torn it will not heal by itself leaving the patient week in certain motions.

Pain with Abduction: a full thickness rotator cuff tear can cause considerable weakness and pain especially with movement in the and of motion controlled most by the rotator cuff tendon that is injured. The top tendon. Supraspinatus, would cause symptoms when trying to lift arm from side of body. A mere sprain would be less painful with minimal weakness. A mild sprain could take upwards of 6 weeks to improve.

i had rotator cuff surgery 5 months ago. dr said it wasn't torn much so he didn't repair just used electrodes? now it hurts worse than ever. what do ido now? can't afford surgery again. any remedies?

Hard to say: Recovery from a compressive neuropathy can take several months to a year to completely recover depending how much damage to the nerve was caused and the recovery my be incomplete in some cases. You could potentially have a rotator cuff tear also, you might need an MRI or ultrasound. Surgery to decompress a nerve should have some immediate relief, but certainly not complete relief.
