Yes: If u sprained your ankle ligament(s)it depends on the severity of the sprain. Generally an acute more severe ankle sprain can be tx. In a cam walker for 7-10 days followed by a period of mobilization/bracing and therapy. Severe( grade3.)ankle sprains may take 4-6 wks. To heal. See your ors.

Ligament sprain: If your function is back to normal, keep on walking. Try to keep your foot elevated when you're sitting especially. At night you may put a small pillow under your foot. Using a compression stocking may also help. The swelling should resolve soon.

It all depends....: Did this just happen ? If it's an old injury and it was just found on an x-ray then nothing may have to be done. If this is a new injury, a lot depends on your exam and your x-rays, your age, activity level, medical problems (like diabetes, etc). If its a stable injury a protective boot or walking cast for a few weeks, if it's unstable and/or the ankle structure is disrupted you may need surgery.

can i take alleve as anti-inflammatory for my foot ligament strain plus tylenol for pain at same time? i also have diclophenac script i have on hand in case of back pain 75mg and could take that if you think that is better. can i still take tylenol?

Meds: yes you can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) along with a anti-inflammatory such as diclofenac or Aleve. Just know that the Aleve or diclofenac can cause gastrointestinal upset.

what is a chronic tear in the atfl ligament? tried pt but it caused more pain. diagnosed with chronic lateral ankle instability. what are other treatments besides pt and surgery? it's been a year.

Ligament instability: Typically if you have a torn or partially torn ligament and physical therapy has not helped surgery is necessary.

Strengthen muscles: When the ligament is damaged your leg muscles need to be able to step up and stabilize the ankle.  There are several good exercises you can do to strengthen.  Look online.  Shoes important and perhaps an added special insert may be needed.  Ankle brace for short term exertion to prevent re-injury.  Be able to move straight before you move side to side in sports.
