what is the difference between a tooth impaction and tooth abscess symptom wise?

Both need treating: An impaction is when a tooth erupts (grows) in the wrong position and abuts another tooth or structure incorrectly. An abscess is a collection of puss in an otherwise sterile space in the body.  Both can cause discomfort and pain, and both need to be treated appropriately. If this is your problem get treated now!

Symptoms of abscess: There are often times that abscessed teeth are assymptomatic. However, swelling, pus, pain  and sensitivity to hot or cold or pressure are indicators. If you have pain without a stimulus , it is a bad  sign. Either way, it's time to see a dentist.

: You can have a minor subclinical infection, but your dentist will need to elaborate as to why they are concerned any may want you to have them extracted.

YeS!: If not able to clean, wisdom teeth can get infected by oral bacteria (cavity).  This infection can spread into the salivary glands and glands below the tongue.  These glands can swell, causing difficulty swallowing.  Trying too hard to swallow can cause reflux symptoms.  Get those infected teeth out!  a dental problem can become a medical problem very quickly if they are not removed.

Maybe: It depends on the level of impaction and which particular tooth. Lingual braces add a layer of complexity to treatment that will take usually longer in time and cost.

Ibuprofen: The best over the counter medication would be Ibuprofen (motrin). I would take three every 6hrs.  Do not exceed  12 tabs in any 24 hour period,  i would definitely call your dentist to have this treated as there could be infection present and this must be treated immediately.

today half of my tooth broke off but it was realy random. i touched it and it just cracked off. is that normal for it break without any injury/impact?

Not normal: Your tooth may have been previously fractured by a bow, perhaps years ago, or from chewing ice, hard candy, etc.  Can also be do to cavity undermining support for the enamel.  Please see your Dentist immediately for restoration.
