Both need treating: An impaction is when a tooth erupts (grows) in the wrong position and abuts another tooth or structure incorrectly. An abscess is a collection of puss in an otherwise sterile space in the body. Both can cause discomfort and pain, and both need to be treated appropriately. If this is your problem get treated now!

Both require care: Impacted teeth are often asymptomatic unless they do damage to surrounding teeth and supporting tissues. Treatment may require service of Orthodontist and or Oral Surgeon. Abscess is an infection, and as it worsens and spreads to other organ systems the most common symptom is pain. Treatment may require service of an Endodontist, Oral Surgeon, and Restorative Dentist. please see your Dentist now.
