Yes and Unlikely: While 7 months is a bit of a longer than usual time frame for a bony sequestrum to appear, it is certainly not unheard of. Local discomfort akin to splinter is what I'd expect for pain. Pain in surrounding teeth is likely due to something else.

Healing: The white area surrounding your tooth extraction site may be the gum healing or the blood clot that formed after the extraction.  Your tongue can dislodge the blood clot, leaving an open hole and potentially lead to a dry socket (infection of the bone).

Another thought is the muscle strain or doctor's grip on your jaw when taking the tooth out.

It varies widely!: Sometimes we see shifting in a matter of weeks or months, while other times it takes years. Every circumstance is different and we can't always predict what will happen nor when. Generally speaking, the sooner teeth are replaced the better. Your own dentist can probably give you a more accurate guess.
