No!: If I were a guessing man, I would 'guess' you smoked after your extraction, which is what caused the dry socket (alveolar osteitis) in the first place.  So, please stop smoking for at least 7-days after an extraction, or after dry-socket therapy.  Otherwise it will most assuredly jeopardize your future healing and you will have more surgical comeplications.

Smoking : If you had an extraction one week ago, and have not smoked the whole time, why not consider quitting permanently... It's a lot safer, not to mention the savings in money as well as your health. Otherwise, if you feel a need to start again... Go ahead if your extraction site is closed and healed.

Smoking: If you smoke, all bets are off.  Smoking delays and alters healing, not to mention that it will eventually kill you.  You shouldn't need gauze for more than a few hours.  If you are still bleeding today, 3 days after the extraction, you need to see the Dentist or Oral Surgeon for a reexamination.

Yes but later on!: Smoking causes cancer... and there is no doubt about it. So quit smoking Now while it is fresh in your mind and you are still free from it.
Development of Cancer from smoking usually takes some years...so right now you are safe but a few years down the road, you will be in serious trouble. So make serious plans to quit smoking....seek professional help from American cancer society(Cancer.net)

NO !!!: Smoking can lead to the dislodging of the blood clots which causes bleeding and delayed healing of extraction site.

Smoking: It will kill you from COPD or CA lung and increase your risk for heart attack, stroke and sudden death and make your teeth fall out. Whoops what has already happened.

Yes: A tooth extraction is very common and a dentist can probably address the incidence. I know that it is less common for young people today because dentists have found ways to protect teeth compared to people my age (58).
