See full answer: Tonsillitis is an infection or inflammation of the tonsils.  Strep is a specific bacteria that can cause tonsillitis or pharyngitis (infection of the throat).  Mononucleosis is an infection caused by epstein barr virus.  All three can present with severe sore throat, fever, and other symptoms.  Your doctor can differentiate between them with a combination of physical exam and tests.

For ever.: You have no need to smoke, ever.  It's bad for you before, during, or after mono/strep/tonsillitis.  If you have stopped for more than three days because of your illness, the physical addiction is already broken and any cravings you feel are just habit.  Stay a non-smoker, for the rest of your life.

chances of surviving h1n1 if already battling mono, tonsillitis, sinusitis. had to got to dr's and had a lot of professionals touch my face. two even coughed on me. i'm very worried now.

Get a shot for Flu: Get a flu shot as it does cover h1n1 as it is included in the flu vaccine and you will not have to worry about h1n1 and flu
that is the only way you can protect yourself.

what does this mean? others negative

Need current: You would need to have current testing to see whether you are currently a carrier.

mono 2 years ago. since then the lymph nodes under my jaw are always swollen. and i am pretty sure i have chronic tonsillitis. are they connected?

can be both: Mono can sometimes leave the neck nodes swollen for a long time. If indeed it is tonsillitis you will need antibiotics or your tonsils removed. You need to see an ENT specialist to be sure.

Tonsillitis: If all testing is negative,you may have anxiety or fear of catching a serious illness,just start by regular salt water,gargles,this is not infrequent,for reassurance ,have tests repeated,some infections take time to manifest.surgery may be the last option.

Tonsillitis : No way to tell for sure without you having them be examined/ swabbed but sounds like an infection of some sort. Could be a tonsillitis or pharyngitis. Anything that makes it difficult to swallow is worth having it be examined.

Tonsillectomy : Tonsils can be a burden of disease for many, and if other aspects have been ruled out as in u'r situation I would suggest seeing an ENT=Ear Nose Throat Specialist.

10yr ago had symps of syphilis, (palm rash,tonsillitis,burning mouth, scrotum bumps) was treated for strep + mono but was neg 4 both. did 2 rpr,fta,tppa,2eia now all neg, drank alot of alc between tests. possible all false neg and i have syph?

: If you had syphilis 10 years ago and it was not treated, your syphilis tests would be positive. Time and alcohol would not cause false negative results.

white spots on my uvula & tonsils. left side looks a bit swollen. negative for strep. no sore throat. ent said tonsillitis & saw a "pus pocket" on one side. i had a bad cold for 5 wks. could be mono?

Maybe: Mono symptoms are much more pronounced than what you are describing.  Usually the tonsils are swollen and tender and look awful.  You can always ask your doctor to get a mono blood titer or a blood test on you to diagnose mono.
