Yes: Yes, in your age range, tonsillectomy is very painful. If you are experiencing this pain now, call your ENT doc, make sure HE/SHE thinks it's within normal limits, and ask for stronger pain meds.

See your doctor: If your tonsillitis is getting worse on antibiotics see your doctor. Your infection may be resistant to your antibiotics so you may need a culture. Your infection may be viral so you may need other medications or testing. Stay hydrated!

Possibly: Bacterial infections can worsen, even if beginning antibiotics.  Sometime patients feel worse in 24 or so hours due to substances released into the body from the death of the bacteria and cell death.  Antibiotics do not guarantee cure.  If one is worsening after beginning antibiotics and there is concern, a phone call to the doctor may be warranted or a re-visit.  Give it a chance then call.

Serious.: without an exam, I can only give general information and 1) infection in an under 1 year old is serious and 2) antibiotics frequently fail due to increasing amounts of antibiotic resistance and this is serious.

Talk to that doctor : Hard to evaluate you over the internet. If the treatment prescribed is not working talk to the doctor who has examined you, knows what your treatment is and knows what past treatments have failed. Some times it takes a new treatment a day or two before you see results.

my 2 year old is on day3 of amoxicillin for tonsillitis which followed a cold.cough has lasted 3 weeks & since having the medicine the cough is worse. really husky. should i get her checked again?

Cough: Sometimes the cough can sound worse before it resolves. If she is otherwise ok, active and playful, good appetite, no fever, you can wait another day or two before having her reexamined.

Halitosis: Bad breath can be coming from a number if different problems, including cavities, gum disease, acid reflux, and your diet. Since all of these potential causes cannot be addressed over the internet, it's best to make appointments with your dentist and physician who can examine you and rule things out, one by one.

Alot worse?: If worse it needs to be checked.  If you develop trouble swallowing to the point of drooling, painful opening of mouth, tender lymph node in neck opposite tonsil, you could have a peritonsillar abscess.  If it's the cough that's worse, so long as you're not coughing up green or yellow, it's likely viral and will pass. If coughing until vomiting, may have pertussis, and need different antibiotic.

can i still get tonsillitis without tonsils . i got my tonsils out when i was 7  and since than my sore throats are worse or they feel like that?

No and Yes...: Once you have a tonsillectomy, you can't get tonsillitis anymore. Unfortunately, there are other structures in the throat that can give you a 'sore throat', including the adenoid and the lingual (tongue) tonsils.  That surgery is intended to reduce throat infection frequency and intensity but, won't stop viruses or these other factors. Check with your doctor for tips to reduce your burden.
