Sore throat: a good home remedy is to mix cherry flavored children's diphenhydramine with cherry flavored antacid in equal amounts in a jar or bottle  take a sip as needed to numb the throat.

HPV: Most likely given your history, social activity and duration of pharyngitis. Certain types of HPV infections are connected to pharyngeal cancer. I strongly recommend practicing safe sex with barrier to protect your partner. It is likely you have passed the HPV to your partner who in turn has passed it back to you in the pharynx.

Seen an ENT yet?: Not sure what you have done as far as treatment, but if you have had symptoms for a month, it may be time to see an ENT.

Diagnosis: Most cases of acute tonsillitis start with a viral infection. Only secondarily, a bacterial infection may result.  It is unusual to have a true infection of the tonsils for a month.  You need a culture and also Infectious mononucleosis has to be ruled out.  It mono spot test is positive, surgery may cure you because this viral infection leads to repeated episodes of tonsillitis.

ENT doctor: Unless your Strep is resistant to amoxicillin, and the infection was Strep, it should have resolved by now. Please discuss with your doctor if a consultation with an ENT specialist is warranted.

Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

See ENT surgeon: You should see an ENT specialist to determine if it would be appropriate to remove your tonsils.

Yes.: You have too many infections much higher than average.  Must see an ENT specialist for diagnosis and treatment.

Tonsillitis: If you have waited three months a few more weeks is not likely to matter. Have a great holiday season.

Not really,: Why  put up with taking antibiotics so frequently when surgery will fix this. Yes there is some post op pain but it will be worth  the 2 weeks versus continued antibiotics perscriptions.






 Ment so frequently.

: HIV status can be determined by a simple blood test. Tonsillitis is just that, inflammation of the tonsils.
