Not really: Though it occurs. I would recommend more frequent bandage changes if thre was an odor and to use something like betadine to clean the nail bed. The betadine is drying so it would cut down on the moisture which is probably aiding in that smell.

Minimal: Usually done with a local, and depending upon the skill of your doctor the needles aren't bad at all.

Questionable: An epidural may provide some pain relief from the procedure but it would not be a first choice.  In this case the risks of an epidural would likely outweigh the benefits.  A digital block, ankle block, or more proximal nerve block would work better and be more appropriate.
