i have an infection in my toe because of a hangnail. help?

Get it treated.: Get it treated. Leaving an ingrown nail untreated could lead to the development of an abscess and possible underlying bone infection.  Get it taken care of by a professional to avoid preventable complications.

i pulled a hangnail out of my big toe, it hurts a little a couple of days later. could this just be due to the hangnail instead of infection?

Ingrown Toenail: The pain could be from the nail, infection, or both. Most people who try "kitchen surgery" do not remove the entire ingrown portion of the toenail, making it worse. Infection becomes more likely. Clean it with hydrogen peroxide, apply antibiotic ointment, and cover with a bandage. See a podiatrist ASAP to make sure the entire ingrown nail was removed.

i have a toe infection and i havent put the treatment on it for a long time and even when i did put it on it was every once in a while.i touched my toe today and ive touched other things and im paranoid. should i clean everything? please help?

Not to worry: it depends what the Toe infection is caused by. If it is bacterial and you have swelling and redness adjacent to the nail, you should be seen for oral antibiotics. If it is a fungal infection of the toenail or the skin around the toes, it would be difficult to infect others via objects and household items. Put a few drops of tea tree oil in your body gel and your feet will get treatment every day

Foot fungus: You could try a topical antifungal such as lotrimin or naftin (naftifine).  If this is unsuccessful, an evaluation by a podiatrist could be helpful.

serious infection around my toe. im on treatment for psoriasis.  could the cause be the medics? im on soriatane (acitretin) 25 mg since 6 months now. thank you

Seek treatment: Medication for psoriasis can weaken your immune system, leaving you open to infections that otherwise would be easy to fight.  If you have a wound or an ingrown toenail, it is more likely that bacteria will enter at these sites and cause infections.  Seek treatment and start antibiotics.  A small infection in the toe with a weak immune system can become much worse if untreated.

IN or ON: A simple superficial aspergillus infection on the big toe can be easily treated with dilute bleach soaks.

No: Are you concerned about the shoes being contaminated with the foot fungus and reinfect ing your feet?  You do. To need to get rid of your shoes.  If you put them in the freezer this will kill l the fungus.

Terbinafine: Oral terbinafine is the most reliable treatment for toenail fungus. It requires a prescription and most drs.Will do some blood work. It still leaves a lot to be desired and toenail fungus has a fairly high recurrence rate.

Get the nail out...: If the offending corner of the nail plate is removed you may not need ant antibiotics.  See a podiatrist for treatment.

: This disclosure is to cover for the fact of its ineffectiveness on severe infection. You can try it and if it fails tell your MdD so she/he can prescribe the proper med. Or you can see a Podiatrist.
