can the upper back spasms cause tightness in the chest?

Accepted Answer

Yes: The chest muscles help support  the upper back and spine as well. It is not unusual to have muscle spasms radiate around to the front of the chest with upper back spasms. In addition if there is nerve root compression you may have pain radiating around to the chest or abdomen.

had tightness/heaviness in upper back near the neck area.seems to be better with positional changes.recently spend alot of time in front of computer.

Yes: This complaint is very common after heavy computer use.  For now, use Ben Gay on the neck and shoulders twice a day for 3 days.  To prevent, get a kitchen timer and set it to ring every 10 minutes when you are at the computer, At that time , do neck rotation exercises for 30 seconds.  Make your keyboard height is proper for you and the screen height is proper for your eyes.

stiff upper back for a few weeks. have chest pains that seem to be on the surface, but sometimes just get weird sensation like tightness. seems to move around & doesn't last very long. middle chest tight & pops. should i be worried??

Back: If the symptoms are not worsening and resolve, continue regular activity. Consider some regular back stretches and exercise. If the symptoms do not resolve or worsen get seen.

i have a lump on my upper back it's painless but sometimes i feel like if i have so much stress and  i feel tight.  i don't know what it can be?

See your doctor: You should have your lesion evaluated in person by your doctor, so he/she can take a biopsy (or remove it completely) if needed.

Most likely OK: It is reasonably unlikely that a 25 year old women would have significant cardiovascular disease to produce a discomfort such as you describe but it is not impossible.  Like any persistent chest discomfort you should be evaluated by a health care professional to ascertain the etiology. Make an appointment this week!

No: wait until ur pain goes away completely small muscle spasms may last longer. do walking exercises and resume ur wt lifting later.

Tight back muscles: Stretching exercises e.g. Gentle yoga would probably be of benefit to you.  Also check your posture standing and sitting.  Also check how you work with computer etc.
