I think: you may have also injured your neck and a pinched nerve (C6-7) in the neck vertebrae will cause referred pain of a "burning" (neuropathic) quality. Mention this to your Orthopedic consultant!! Hope this helps! Dr Z

Trapezius spasm: VSanders, mild pain and superficial tears of the delicate muscle group called rotator cuff (supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor), is very easily done in a gym /weigh lifting scenario. Deep tissue muscle massage to rhomboids (upper neck area) and also to trapezius, in lower infra-scapula area. Deep tissue massage breaks down muscle spasm and will relieve pain. Motrin for pain!
