Accepted Answer

"Suspicious": doesn't mean there is cancer, it only means there is some probability of cancer, which could be as low as 10%.  Biopsy is the gold standard.  If the biopsy is negative and shows a specific benign process that accounts for the nodule(concordant), then it is likely not cancer.

Frustrating problem: You can watch and wait, having your doctor keep a close eye on your thyroid ultrasound in the coming 3-6 months.  You could also ask for a repeat biopsy in 3-6 months.  If the nodule is large, you may wish to discuss having thyroid surgery (removal) to settle the problem.

what is the role of a thyroid sestamibi scan in detecting or to rule out thyroid malignancy?

Parathyroid: Sestamibi is more often used to evaluate the parathyroid glands for possible parathyroid adenoma. They cannot rule out thyroid malignancy. If you have questions, see an endocrinologist. You may need a biopsy if you have a questionable thyroid mass.

Not likely: "hot" nodules are rarely cancer and most often represent benign follicular adenomas.  These are also known as "autonomous" nodules because they make thyroid hormone but don't respond to the body's normal signals telling them when to stop making the hormone.  The vast majority of thyroid cancer nodules are "cold" on a thyroid scan.

if there is a thyroid malignancy..  will there be dysphagia for solids in the early stages or liquids..  iam losing weight and troubled ?

See your doctor.: although not likely to be due to thyroid malignancy, the combination of weight loss and dysphagia, whether of solids or liquids, is concerning and needs to be evaluated promptly. I would see your doctor for further testing. Good luck.

Not much: If there are no symptoms of food/pills sticking in throat , shortness of breath etc, and a negative biopsy, usually serial ultrasounds to monitor for nodule growth is all that's needed.

Thyroid nodule: Unlikely to be a cancer but surgical removal of the nodule is in order.

Nodal view: It is very difficult to comment on what the node is.  You don't mention it's size or if it is tender.  If tender it could be from qn irritation of the salivary gland, the salivary duct , an infection on the floor of your mouth or more.  If the enlargement has no tenderness there are a number of other possible benign causes, but to give you emotional comfort have the area examinied by an ENT

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: If you have multinodular goiter (thyroid enlargement), and you have a fna result that is negative, then this is most unlikely that it is a cancer. There is a very low chance of a malignancy else where in the gland, but it is fractions of a percent.
