Dr. should evaluate: A person throwing up for one week has more than a simple little illness. Throwing up for 1-2 days from viral infections, the flu, eating bad food, etc... Might be expected. However, one week of vomiting is a long time. A doctor can evaluate to see if there is a chemical imbalance, an unusual infection, a pregnancy, a stomach obstruction, a drug side effect, etc...

See your doctor: Spitting up frequently is common in infants, but at 10 months you will want to discuss how much?  how often?  Growing and gaining weight?  There are medications that can help....if she needs them.

The most important thing to do is make sure you are taking in copious amounts of water and electrolytes to counteract the losses.

Go to the ER now: The risk of dehydration is substantial here if all you're dealing with is gastroenteritis. However, given the child's age, I am most concerned about foreign body ingestion with impaction in the esophagus or even toxic ingestion (a 4 year old can take a swig of under-the-sink chemicals ; you may not have seen it).  Don't take a chance--get the child to the er now.

Overlap of reflexes: There is an overlap between the mechanisms for the reflexes of cough and vomiting, so that in children coughing may trigger also throwing up. If this happens more than occasionally, see a pediatrician

Yes.: Yes, dehydration can occur very quickly.  Depending on the cause for vomiting, your son could get very sick.  Take him to an emergency department where they will have the ability to give him IV fluids - sounds like he'll need it.  Take note of # of wet diapers, amount of fluids he's had over last couple of days, etc.  Good luck.
