Seek Help ASAP: Need to have swelling incised ; drained by your dentist, endodontist (rc specialist), oral surgeon or in emergency room. When these infections enter the fascia (the layer between the muscle and bone) it can spread fairly quickly ; may become life threatening. In the meantime, if u have ab prescribed by a doctor for this tooth, take them, ice the area, put an extra pillow, don't sleep on that side.

Possibilities: Include referred pain to your lower jaw from the upper. Sinus issues often affect upper teeth and sometimes that pain can seem like it is coming from someplace else like your lower jaw or elsewhere. It could also be that you have a bad cold along with independent dental issues. Get a thorough dental exam to understand the root causes of your discomfort and develop a treatment plan to address it.

That's very simple: Pain indicates a problem.  That's nature's way of telling us to see a doctor in order to diagnose the problem and treat it.  We can't diagnose problems such as these without actually examining you and seeing x-rays of the area in question.  The sooner you see a dentist, the sooner you will feel better.  It won't go away by itself.  In fact, it's likely to get worse very quickly!

Jaw pain: No simple answer; it depends what's the cause. Jaw pain can be due to dental/periodontal disease, sinusitis, even earache (referred pain), it can be due to medication effects (eg. Fosamax), intrinsic bone disease (benign and malignant tumors), cysts, TMJ joint pain, or hyperostosis (overgrowth of bone). You need an evaluation.

Couple possibilities: One possibility is a fracture of the jaw bone.  It could occur a couple of different places and is only going to be evident on an x-ray.  Another possibility is a dislocation in the tmj.  You may need to see an oral surgeon for either of these problems.

Please put down the computer, pick up the phone, and call your Dentist for an emergency appointment ASAP before your chronic problem becomes an acute problem.

This is typically strained muscles and OTC ibuprofen, soft diet, and the recommended jaw exercise will help you feel better while the muscles heal. Follow up with your dentist if this does  not feel better.
