Tmj muscle pain: Muscle spasm. Try Motrin for pain. Another option is tmj.  A way to tell is to open and close the jaw with a finger placed in the TMJ socket which is roughly the pocket created when one opens the mouth and places a finger directly in front of the ear canal right at the level of the sideburns.  Softer foods, warm compresses and Motrin should help. Avoid gum chewing. If persists see md.

i have this sharp throbbing neck pain on the back of my neck, left side by my spine every time i move my head from side to side. occured during stress?

Muscle spasm: Most likely this represents muscle spasm, very common in people under a lot of stress, or who keep the neck in a fixed position too long, or who have structural spinal problems. This can be relieved by daily stretches, avoid prolong or awkward neck postures and learning to reduce stress.

Be checked: i would sure be checked for this.  While it could be musculoskeletal, it might also be a symptoms of cardiac ischemia and you may need a stress test to make sure it is not something potentially life threatening.

Pain from a disc: or "pinched nerve" in the neck is usually "RADICULAR" that is it RADIATES down your arm(s)
An MRI should answer your question ...ask your Primary Care Provider!

Depends: If this is new/sudden onset, then i'd talk to your doctor immediately!  if this has been going on for a while and has progressed, there are things that can be done.  Sometimes, neck issues can trigger headaches.  Sometimes they are independent.  Mri studies may be helpful.

Yes can be serious: Hypertension is called " silent killer", most of the patients are asymptomatic but neck pain can be a symptom of high blood pressure. You should seek immediate profesional help, sometimes diet ( low salt diet) is not enough and you need medications to controll it. If left untreated then stroke and heart attack can occur.

Pinched nerve : this is just a pinched nerve. However you can have muscle pain in the neck thatcan be felt in the arm and you can also have shoulder pain that could be felt in the neck or in the arm. You need to see your physician and have an evaluation perhaps looking at both the rheumatic issues in the neurologic  systems

i had a c-section a week ago. i got severe throbbing in my neck near the base of my skull during the surgery. now i have recurring neck pain. why?

Strongly recommend: you contact your OB doctor. You may well be fine, but this can result after spinal or epidural anesthesia. you'd need to be evaluated to say more, best wishes.

: I would want to know if MRI was of brain or neck or both?  If just brain then MRI of neck (cervical spine) could be considered after a thorough neurological evaluation, but with the dizziness, etc a thorough ear exam woukd also be important .  If these are normal perhaps an injection/nerve block of the painful are might help

gave birth normal delivery on the 29th february and had an epidural but now i struggle with terrible throbbing headaches every time i lie down or early hours of the morning and neck pain, what could be the cause and how do i resolve this... thank you?

Epidural ?'s: An epidural anesthetic involves placing a syringe into the epidural space near the spinal cord, which can cause a leak of spinal fluid, causing headaches as described. Call the OB physician and ask about his/her arranging for a "blood patch" to be put on the site of the epidural anesthesia puncture, which will significantly relieve your headaches.
