Remedies: Saltwater gargles are very helpful. Mix a teaspoon of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle with this several times a day. You can  also gargle with aloe vera juice a couple of times per day.

Throat pain: There are several ways to treat a sore throat- salt water gargles, listerine zero rinses, cepacol rinses- all over the counter oral rinses that will assist with keeping the area clean and assist in promoting healing. Motrin  can assist, to coat the ulcer, a cocktail of maalox and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) with or without some lido swish and spit can cover the sore so you can eat and swallow. Dds/md rx needed.

Drink what?: We need to stay hydrated, even if you have a sore throat. It's very rare that we would tell you not to drink plenty of water &amp; fluids. You'll know that you're drinking enough fluids when you urinate pale or clear urine regularly. Obviously, avoid those fluids that irritate your throat, especially w/throat ulcer. Water should be fine. No benefit from sugar-sweetened drinks. Follow up closely w/doc.

Throat pain: If  a person with sorethroat has difficulty swallowing or drink the person needs immediate er room evaluation to avoid electroltye abnormalities and dehydration.

Gerd: Sounds like gerd.  You need a ppi like Prilosec or nexium (esomeprazole).
