Post procedure : Yes, it would be relatively normal to have a sore throat with swallowing after an endoscopy. This should resolve in 2-3 days. If it persists or worsens beyond 7 to 10 days, then you should contact the Doctor who did the procedure for his or her opinion.

had upper endoscopy and woke up from procedure with a sore throat. is this common and what can i do for relief? typically how long will sore throat last?

Lozenge's  &amp;warm Liq: You should have little or no pain following your procedure. If you have an upper endoscopy, you may have a slight sore throat that can be relieved with warm liquids, throat lozenges or, if necessary, Tylenol.  Sore  throat may last for 1-2 days.  
When patients complain of sore throat following upper endoscopy, it is usually related to the pressure of the endo- scope on the walls of the pharynx.

had my endoscopy last thursday and i'm still experiencing sore throat with earache. my neck sometimes hurt too due to the pain. is this normal?

Upper endoscopy: It is not normal to have pain for days after an upper endoscopy. Not sure what was done during the procedure, but I would recommend calling the Doctor Who did the endoscopy to discuss it. If the pain is severe or if you are febrile, just go to the emergency room. Do not delay. Good luck.

sore throat feels like raw.  no voice. had test not vocal chords. endoscopy.  what could this be?

Some possibilities: Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health,
parkinson's can affect voice. Much more common is reflux of stomach contents which can cause chronic irritation of the voicebox... even repeated pneumonias.
allergies, post-nasal drip can irritate the throat chronically.

sore throat for 4 months. on allergy med as per dr's advice. it seemed to help some but lately my throat is very dry. had a upper endoscopy- normal. ?

Negative endoscopy: is great news. You may have one of several issues which require further testing: a chronic post nasal drip from inhalant allergies  or GERD, a reflux of stomach acid upward through your esophagus into your throat. Both require ongoing evaluation.

hello i have mild inflamed esophagus from endoscopy. been on nexium (esomeprazole) for a few weeks. how do i stop the sore throat and belching? it's awful!

Call your G.I. doc.: if it is going to help, Nexium (esomeprazole) would probably have started giving you some relief by now. I would recommend avoiding any particular foods that you notice make the problem worse. You should consider tilting your bed and avoiding caffeine and alcohol. I would call your gastroenterologist to see if you need to  adjust the Nexium (esomeprazole) dosage or switch to a new medicine. Good luck.

chronic sore throat since weeks. have reflux but never had sore throat. endoscopy reveals mildly lax les. on protonix (pantoprazole) 40 twice a day. what now ?

GE reflux: Chronic sore throat can still be caused by reflux despite medication.  If still sleeping flat on your back, try sleeping on a wedge or elevate head part of bed by 4-6 inches. Hope that helps.

Yes: During you endoscopy you will likely be monitored by the physician performing the procedure as well as the anesthesiologist who regulates your sedation. A common cold should not jeopardize the safety or diagnostic efficiency of the procedure.

i had an gastroendoscopy 3 days ago.  developed sore throat and flu symptoms  8h after, how long after endoscopy can you develop esophagus perforation?

Almost immediately: An esophageal perf. with endoscopy is a serious and almost immediate condition. Severe pain , tachycardia, fever - this is a bad event. A bit of sore throat is not uncommon after EGD, but if you have real concerns you should put a call in to your GI team now. Good luck

hi i had an endoscopy a month ago. mildly inflamed esophagus. been on nexium (esomeprazole).but i have a sore throat and a lump feeling along with burps. i need help?

May need follow up..: While sore throat and burping are not uncommon follow ing the endoscopy,I would not expect these types of things to last for an entire month afterward.As you know, they sedate you and put a tube down your throat,then pump air into the intestines to open them for a better camera view--that air can cause a bloated feeling and belching afterward.Sore throat is also very typical. Maybe not this long.
