easy one. i have had a very sore throat on my left side' pain goes to my left ear when i swallow.  any ideas? its been for 1 wk

Sore throat 1week: You need to cosult your doctor.You may have a throat infection which may need full course of antibiotis like strep throat, or it may be a viral pharyngitis which may get better by itself.We can not advise you without looking in your throat and ears as well as you may also have middle ear infection.

how do i protect vocal cord? left side pain in throat, especially after singing high notes or at loud volume.  not sore throat. tests/help?

See your doc: It's important that you have a formal evaluation of your throat.  You may consider seeing an ear, nose, throat doctor(ENT) who can better visualize your larynx/vocal cords.  It's very possible that you have developed a vocal cord nodule/polyp causing your issues.  Until there is a better understanding of the cause, you'd be best suited by limited the volume and pitch range of your singing.

it feels like i can't swallow saliva or drink on the right side of my throat. theres no pain.  left side is fine.  can it be allergies? other problem?

URI, sinusitis: This could be a virus, bacterial sinusitis or possibly allergies.
You can try a saline nose spray/irrigation and/or over the counter decongestant nasal spray or pill like sudafed.
If the symptoms persist you shoud see your doctor for further evaluation.

Sore throat: A sore throat for three weeks requires investigation which would include a throat inspection by a physician(to look for pharyngitis, tonsillitis) or a throat culture to check for strep(which is treated with antibiotics) and  blood tests which include a cbc and differential cell count as well as a monotest(to detect infectious mononucleosis). See your physician who will order the appropriate tests

Dr. can check throat: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can help decrease the pain.

what can be causing my upper back pain? i have gerd and my gma had pancreatic cancer. seems like right behind my heart. sharp pain, severe at times. also having left side pain and throat feeling full and scratchy not like a sore throat. gerd 15+ yrs

Many possibilities: Esophageal pathology, specifically in the context of 15 years of treated GERD and along with the described throat symptoms comes first to mind on location, but gastric, pancreatic, musculoskeletal pathology will have to be ruled in or ruled out. Seeing your gastroenterologist, hopefully you have one, would be recommended as the next step.

what can cause left side pain in the back of the neck. not muscular. movement doesn't make it better or worse but leaning forward causes more pressure?

Neck pain: Sounds like an inflammatory reaction of one of the cervical roots; also a pinched nerve in the side of pain also may cause it. Try some Motrin for a few days. If symptoms continue and/or weakness, tingling, numbness appear on the affected side in the arm, fingers- see doctor asap.

i am having severe upper left side pain under rib cage now for over two months, also now swollen left gland in neck. should i goto the hospital?

These  may not  be: These may not be related. You need to see your physician and not go to the hospital. It will save  a lot of money staying out of the ER. Your evaluation will be to see if the two are related, may incude imaging including a chest  film and possibly a CT or  MRI
