May be your uvula: It is unusual to be able to see the epiglottis.  I think you are describing an infection of the uvula. Have your doctor exam and treat you. This can be serious. Epiglottis usually does not allow you to change positions of your neck. You have have dysphagia, drooling, voice change and hoarseness. All the best and I hope you feel better soon.

Doctor can re-check: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat illness is bothersome (as in this case), recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat or a tonsillar abscess).

You may have a viral infection of some kind. This is impossible to diagnose without additional information and a clinical examination.
Most viral infections resolve on their own in 7-10 days.
See your dentist or an ENT specialist for an examination.
