Rheumatologist: A rheumatologist should evaluate you and then possibly treat the lupus.  The pain may then improve also.

Yes but...: Lupus flare up can cause inflammation of the pleura and pericardium (sack around the lungs and heart respectively) which can cause chest pain.   However it is important that you see your doctor  to be sure there is no coexisting coronary artery disease as well.

For example, Inflammation of the lung lining is called pleurisy which is a sharp pain and can radiate to the back. But there are also many other possibilities - the heart sac can be inflamed - called pericarditis and can present in the same way. You must see your physician for a thorough physical exam. Nisha

Yes: Yes. Chest pain in lupus can come from many different causes. Pleuritis, chest pain due to inflammation of the tissue surrounding the lung, is a diagnostic criteria for systemic lupus erythematosus. Patients with lupus can also get indigestion, pneumonia, blood clots, heart disease etc. That also cause chest pain.

Positive ANA: above 1:16 is considered a true positive. With an ANA that high it certainly suggests a connective tissue disease, make an appointment with rheumatology as soon as possible as it could be lupus

my daughter started with pnumonia and now has chest pain and also a rash on her chest, could this be lupus?

Not likely: There are multiple other causes of a rash on a chest apart from Lupus. The rash could simply be a viral rash that would have followed on from a suppressed immune system after having pneumonia. Lupus is always a possibility but other common causes need to be ruled out first. You need to see your doctor to determine the cause of her rash

as a lupus patient who has a lot of chest pain, how do i tell the difference between pericarditis and costochondritis ?

Inflamation: Pericarditis is inflamation of the sack around the heart. Pushing on your chest will not reproduce the pain. Some changes in position will. Costochondritis is inflamation in the chest wall. Applying pressure will cause the pain to increase.

i'm 37 female have chest pain when moving and in general feel poorly i have sle lupus id this part of its overall sysmtoms?

Lupus: If you have been formally diagnosed as having lupus by a physician, it is not unusual to have pleurisy and fatigue.  Pleurisy is the inflammation of the lining of the lung, and can be quite painful.  Treatment of the pleurisy follows treatment of your lupus.  Your rheumatologist should be able to adjust your medications to reflect your worsening symptoms.
