: All imaging results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that,  a CT examination of the spine is warranted, as advised you your doctor.

could a cardiac neoplasm show up on an echo or chest x-ray?

Maybe echo: A mass inside the heart or in the wall of the heart would not likely show up on a chest xray.  If the mass was large enough or caused the heart to enlarge or if there was a pericardial effusion associated with it, there may be an indirect finding on the xray.  But the mass itself would not show up on the xray.  Ct of the chest could also potentially see a focal mass in the heart.

Chest pain: I would have her see her pediatrician for ekg and maybe chest xray. If child has no significant medical problems probably is just growing pains.

Depends upon: For one rescuer: 30 compressions and  2 breaths ratio; 
for 2 rescuers:  15 compressions and 2 breaths ratio.

can a person who is paralyzed from the chest down still have sex or have children?

Accepted Answer

Sort of, and yes: Paraplegics have little or no sensation during sexual activity. Both men and women can have leg spasms, which make body positioning challenging. Men usually no longer have any or adequate erections. Fertility in paraplegic women is not changed. With a paraplegic man, there are special ways to collect sperm, which doctors can then put into his wife to create a pregnancy.

Wouldn't: I wouldn't do this unless the kid had a tendency to wheeze with upper respiratory infections.

my 2yr old has a little bit of hives rash in his whole belly&chest since last night, i gave him children's benedryl last night. how lng wil it goaway?

Hives in a 2 year ol: If the child is itching it could be allergic reaction,  the hives will keep coming back as long as he is still exposed to the offending agent,  red raised blotches  that keep coming back could also be erythema infectiosum,  a viral illness  also known as  5th disease can last for several wks.  Your pediatrician can check him &amp; run blood work to make the Dx. Good luck.

my 5 year old daughter complained about being tired earlier and she lied in bed earlier than her normal bedtime. she has a runny noise now and chest sounds congested. i have nurofen (for children) and calpol (paedietric suspension). can i give her?

: It sounds like a viral upper respiratory infection. The only treatment is symptomatic (no antibiotics) so those meds are fine (one or the other)..

Fluids.lemon&honey: Extra fluids, you can honey and lemon juice which has been recommended by some.Garlic, raisins with black pepper seeds may be used.

can children get gastroesophageal reflux disease? my 8-year-old has been complaining about burning in her chest after eating certain foods. is it possible that she has gerd, or is it only an adult disease?

Children : Children (and infants) can most definitely get gastroesophageal reflux disease.  In fact, it is not at all uncommon.

Here are a few tips you can try:
- milk is a great antacid.  You can have her drink a glass if she's feeling a little discomfort.
-try and pay attention to what foods cause the problem - fatty/greasy foods? Acidic foods like tomato sauce and citrus?  Carbonated beverages? Avoiding these foods can help alleviate the problem.
-make sure she's not eating close to bedtime.  Eating an hour or two before laying down can worsen reflux symptoms.

If her symptoms are worsening, becoming more frequent or if any of the above suggestions do not help, it's worth contacting her doctor to discuss other treatment options.  Sometimes a stronger acid blocker is required for a few months to heal everything completely.
