Safe Vaccine: There are no serious side effects except some patients will get chicken pox blisters around the site but these go away.

: Do you still have new vesicles (blister-like), open sores, scabs, etc? Or maybe just leftover skin discoloration and maybe scarring, plus pain (post herpetic neuralgia)? If the former (active shingles), you should be on treatment with valacyclovir or similar drugs, and maybe evaluated for underlying health conditions. Keep working with your doctor(s). Good luck.

No: No side effects, but waste of money. No benefit from more than 1 week unless you have impaired immunity from a serious condition. Zovirax (acyclovir) and Acyclovir are 2 names for the same med. The cream is useless. The pill may help if started on the first or second day at 800 mg 5x a day for 7 days. Doxepin cream will relieve the pain.

Shingles: Unfortunately there is very little to do, Ibuprofen and oatmeal baths may help. Liquid Benadryl (diphenhydramine) applied judiciously to certain areas of the skin may help with the itch.

That's your business: The medicine is safe. Even the crystal nephropathy that a few people get is expected to heal right up. Drink plenty of water. You owe it to yourself and those to whom you have responsibilities to be treated effectively for shingles -- it can be disabling.

Prob not acyclovir: Acyclovir is an extremely safe drug and rarely causes side effects of any kind. It is not a likely cause of confusion or fatigue. However, a severe case of shingles could cause fatigue. This is something to discuss with the doctor who prescribed it. Good luck.

Shingles: The shingles may affect voiding pattern.  Not necessarily a side effect of Acylovir, which is usually well tolerated.  One solution is to lower the dosage of acylovir.
