Back pain: I will assume you've seen a doctor already given the medications you are taking.  Since the pain occurred after trauma, did you have any xrays or ct?  A good history and exam can usually distinguish musculoskeletal pain from cancer related back pain.  Sometimes the only cure for back pain is time to heal.  It is important that you continue to follow-up with your doctor as an MRI may be necessary.

It depends: Usually prednisone is given for inflammatory or autoimmune conditions.  But it can also be prescribed for other reasons, such as treatment of asthma exacerbations or pain control or adrenal problems.  The after effects of stopping prednisone will depend on the reason why it was prescribed in the first place.

Very few: Short courses of Prednisone or Medrol (methylprednisolone) are commonly used for a a variety of conditions like acute gout, poison oak, and allergic reactions.  Since the treatment is less than a week, there are few potential problems.  Some patients have a little insomnia or anxiety with the higher doses given in the first few days of the pack.

Mid mixtures: Prednisone can awaken and excite and increase appetite and elevate glucose.  Nyquil is drying and slightly sedating.  Mucinex (guaifenesin) dm is drying and slightly sedating.  Taken together the result likely will be slight sedation and decongestion. Why not set aside Mucinex (guaifenesin) when you take nyquil...?

Side effect?: All med can have side effect , we take them when we need them . U physician thinks u do need it , comply with treatment.

Discuss w your doc: The best way is to discuss it with your treating physician. Short term, it can cause salt and water retention, thus increase blood pressure, gaining weight. It also increases your blood sugar, irritates your stomach and can cause stomach bleeding. Long term affects are many including the risk of osteopenia or losing your bone mass in prolonged use. Talk w your doctor for long term alternative.

Extra energy, a bit: Cranky and hungry maybe, but otherwise you should be fine. This is a small dose for only a few days.
