Whole Food Vitamins: Vitamins are widely available, and they are also widely VARIABLE in their quality.  In general, vitamins made from whole foods (they will be labeled as such) are more easily absorbed and used by your body and are a better choice.  These types of vitamins are generally only available at health food stores, both local and online.  Opt for those labelled organic, and read dosing recommendations well.

Multivitamin : A multivitamin for teenagers is a good choice. I would also look at juice plus. It is 17 fruits and veggies and 2 grains and has all the benefits of the whole plant....And is good for children, teens, ad adults.

Supplement: Multivitamins can benefit. Look for a multivitamin that is absorbed well. I particularly like a vitamin made from  a company that hydroponically grows the vitamins into a plan and then cut and dry the plant. The nurtrients are in a highly absorbable form. 
I would recommend staying away from most first generation mutlitvitamins. Typically poorly absorbed and not helpful.

Yes, it is.: Yes, it is Ok for you to take a multivitamin. Any general adult vitamin would be fine. If you know that you are anemic (Low iron level), you can take a multivitamin with iron. I often recommend a CVS brand multivitamin because it is a small pill and therefore easier to swallow than some of the larger multivitamins. You may want to ask your own doctor what they recommend.

Vitamins: In general i recommend a combination of a multivitamin/mineral an additional antioxidant and omega 3 oil. There are other supplements that can be added for specific benefits.  Iron can be helpful for teenage girls with heavy menstruation.

Hard to say: People perform at their best when they are well rested, have a balanced nutrition,are not ill and work in a familiar setting. Unless the kid has a vitamin deficiency, supplements would not help. Teens need a minimum of 9 hours/d with increases if studying hard, playing sports or in a growth spurt.Fix what you can and get a checkup if this does not improve.

Daily adult vitamins: An over-the-counter adult multivitamin (+/- minerals) is fine for a teenager to take once a day. If a teen doesn't eat or drink much in the way of dairy products, then an adult vitamin d and calcium tablet is also needed. Some people just take a Tums smoothies once a day for their calcium supplement. Vitamin d and multivitamins are even available in "gummy" chewables for adults now.

Depend gender health: If your diet is healthy then you may not need vitamins at all.  Your gender plays a role in nutrition.  If your diet is lacking nutrients, such as iron or calcium, then a multivitamin with those minerals would be indicated. See your doctor for a thorough discussion of your nutritional health.
