Splint: Wrist sprains and strains can take a long time to heal.  It is not unusual to have some discomfort for 6-9 months or more.  I would suggest an elastic wrist support and avoid painful activities.  A ridged wrist splint can be used occasionally.  As long as you have some sense that the wrist is getting better, i would continue with conservative treatment. If it gets worse, see your doctor.

A long time.: Dorsal ligament injuries, classified as wrist sprains, can take longer to stop hurting than many fractures.  In my experience this is usually 6 weeks to 3 months.  Occasionally longer if activity is not limited and the injured area is continually stressed.  Immobilization is key to get the ligaments to heal by cast or full time bracing (removing only for hygiene). It can be frustrating ; painful!
