This is felt to be an inflammatory contracture of the plantar fascia and treatment options include orthotic/bracing, stretches, injections or surgery.  There are other potential causes, so consider being seen.

Plantar fasciitis: She likely has a condition called plantar fasciitis which is a condition where there is inflammation of the Achilles tendon as it connects to the heel bone. It is very common. Unfortunately it can take a while to resolve. Best is to see a podiatrist. In the mean time some stretching of that area can help.

See your PCP for the: Initial evaluation and get some pain meds from her/him, and investigations could be started. Then see a podiatrist/ foot ; ankle doc as you wish.
Most likely its planter fasciitis, requiring pain meds, stretching exercises/ splints, night splints, pain/steroid shot, proper shoe wear, with heel cushion/pad, etc..

Heel pain: Heel pain that comes on when you stand is often caused by plantar fasciitis. However, other causes include achilles tendinitis, stress fracture or heel spur. Typically if no trauma it would be reasonable to see if a trial of NSAID would improve.

i ignored my heel pain for a long time and just recently been seeing a podiatrist who has given me 4 cortisone shots,is it normal for the shots to do nothing for my pain?have i waited to long and the damage is to severe?

: cortisone shots only relieve the symptoms not the cause of the pain. If after two injections , four is not going to make any difference. Multiple cortisone injections  over a relatively short period is not recommended. Custom orthotics with appropriate shoes. Stretching the Achilles tendon, are very effective over 90%. surgery is the last option. Over the counter ibuprofen or Aleve.Second opinion

: You didn’t mention what was required to provide you with relief of plantar fasciitis. Obviously it helped but it did not take care of the problem completely. I would take the next step whether that be changing your shoes for more support or seeing a podiatrist and getting either over-the-counter supports or a custom-made orthotic. All of these are viable

Plantar fasciitis : Is the most common cause then i would think of heels spurrs but not in a million years heart disease! don&#x27;t worry about that one. Try rolling your foot over a cold soda 16-20 oz bottle for 15 minutes twice a day and taking 2 aleve (naproxen) twice a day and see if it helps!

Depending on the size and location of the prominence, a surgeon maybe able to get a way with removing as much of the prominence as he can without detaching the tendon. The recovery time on this would be fairly less involved 4-6 weeks with rehab. If fairly large, one would need to detach and reattach the tendon to remove the protrusion which will increase recovery, taking 3-4 months with PT
