i have a pain&pressure in my upper jaw i also have pressure near my temple. it really only hurts when i open my mouth or try to chew what could it be?

TMJ/TMD: It sounds like a problem with your jaw joint(s) most commonly referred to as TMJ/TMD.  Having said that, it would be prudent to be evaluated by a local dentist to confirm this diagnosis and suggest both palliative treatment now and steps to eliminate and prevent future problems. Left untreated it tends to become more problematic over time. Seek a dentist who has experience &amp; training in this area

TMJ?: Sounds alot like TMJ. Could be other oral/dental causes. See an oral surgeon for diagnosis and treatment/referral.

Trauma to skull: You have probably suffered an injury to the jaw near or at the temporal-mandibular joint.  This injury could be causing your symptoms and you should be checked by your doctor to see if you need any treatment.  You may need xrays of the area.

i started taking flinstones mv w/ iron 2 days ago, because i had anemia symptoms. my jaw hurts to open, temples are tender to touch. are they related?

Not related: There is no relation between your vitamin intake/anemia and your jaw/temple pain. I would recommend seeing a doctor who can examine you and determine the cause for your symptoms.

If : If you were not knocked out and suffered no loss of consciousness then i think you only suffered a contusion.  Advil or tylenol, (acetaminophen) ice packs tonight, rest.  You should do well. Best wishes.

Temporal arteritis?: Until proved otherwise. It can happen at your age. I suspect there is a different explanation, but a visit to your physician is in order. The tenderness and the pain on chewing ("jaw claudication") will be familiar to all healthtap physicians as warnings.

Head injury: If you can chew that is a good sign. Are your teeth OK? Unlikely a jaw fracture if that is OK, however, if symptoms are not improving in a couple days get checked.  As far as head injury, if you did not pass out and as long as you are not on some blood thinner the headache can be treated with Tylenol (acetaminophen) and rest. If worsening headache, vomiting or you feel weak on one side get checked.

Most likely TMJ pain: If opening your jaw causes pain this can be because you TMJ is not working normally.  There are many causes of this ranging from trauma, arthritis, clenching and grinding you teeth.  There can be other caused also such as ear infections, so it is best to see your dentist and have this checked out.
