Probably no: Retainers are designed to be worn consistently to prevent shifting of teeth.   They often need to be worn daily to keep your teeth in their ideal position.   If you forget & wear it a couple of days later & it still goes to place, but is tight, then your teeth can reposition within the retainer.  But, if some teeth currently do not fit, then your retainer usually will not help.  See your dentist.

If you are having issues with grinding and wear, especially at night, you would need a night guard or similar appliance to protect your teeth.
If the retainer is not designed to stop you from grinding or clenching then you can develop other problems from using it for that.

These may be caused by clenching or grinding your teeth, traumatic injury, using your teeth as tools (opening bottles, etc, biting on pens, pencils, finger nails, hard candy, chewing on ice, etc, 

like the crack in a car's windshield, teeth cracks may stay the same for years and then one day , they may fully crack or chip.

See your dentist for evaluation.

small gap btw my teeth where food gets stuck. always floss to clear it out. problem is, that area hurts bad after i floss. chewing also creates pain in that area so i end up chewing with the left side?

See  Dentist  : Need to get it checked by dentist and get gap fixed..Or get it evaluated that  there is no cavity..If the food keeps on getting stuck gums will get inflammed and can cause further perio pockets so treat it before it gets worse...

hello! i only had the two wisdom teeth on my right taken out. the online information ive come across clearly refers only to getting all 4 done. is my recovery time faster? can i eat harder foods if i only use my left side?
